Every Red Bull Edition Ranked: Which Flavour Is Worth Buying?
Share
Blue Edition is the one to buy first: in our own order data over the past twelve months, Red Bull Blue Edition is the single best-selling line in the range, and it is stocked all year. Original Sugarfree and Original Zero Sugar are the sensible daily choices, The Red Edition Watermelon and Tropical Edition lead the fruit editions, and the Spring and Summer Editions are worth buying while they last.
Red Bull editions at a glance
Every Red Bull in our range comes in the same 250 ml can with the same 80 mg of caffeine and 1000 mg of taurine, so the choice is really about flavour, sugar and availability.

What is the difference between Red Bull Original, Sugarfree and Zero Sugar?
The caffeine and taurine are identical; only the sweetening differs. Original contains sugar, while Sugarfree and Zero Sugar do not. The two sugar-free cans are sweetened to different profiles, and most people have a clear preference once they have tried both. Zero Sugar tracks Original most closely, so it is the usual recommendation for someone cutting sugar but not wanting their drink to taste different. Sugarfree has a drier, sharper finish that long-term drinkers stay loyal to. All three are vegan and carbonated.
Which Red Bull edition sells best?
Blue Edition, by a clear margin. In our own order data over the past twelve months, Red Bull Blue Edition is the single best-selling line in the range, consumer and wholesale orders combined. It is the blueberry-leaning edition, sweeter and rounder than Original with none of the herbal note that puts some people off the classic can. That is why it works as a first energy drink for people who do not like energy drinks, and why it is the edition we would put on a mixed pallet before any other.
Which Red Bull editions are the berry ones?
Blue Edition, Purple Edition, Pink Edition, Lilac Edition, Sea Blue Edition and White Edition all sit in the berry half of the range. One thing to know before you order a case: Red Bull names these editions by colour, not by fruit, and the fruit printed on the can has changed between years and markets. Blue Edition has been stable for a long time; for the others, the can itself is the only reliable guide. Our view on the group: Purple and Sea Blue sit at the darker, jammier end, Pink and Lilac are lighter and more floral, and White Edition is the one most worth reading the label on. For variety in a mixed order they do their job; for a single repeat line, Blue Edition is still the pick.
Which Red Bull editions are citrus or tropical?
The Red Edition Watermelon, Green Edition Dragon Fruit and Tropical Edition are the fruit-forward, lighter-tasting cans. The Red Edition Watermelon is the one we restock most often of the three: sweet without being heavy, with enough acidity to stay drinkable at room temperature, which matters for a can carried around all day. Tropical Edition is the most juice-like in the range and the best choice for someone who finds Original medicinal. Green Edition Dragon Fruit is the mildest, pleasant but easy to forget.
Which Red Bull editions taste of stone fruit?
White Peach, Apricot Edition and Spring Edition Cherry Sakura. These are the softest flavours Red Bull makes, low on citrus bite, and they divide opinion more than the berry cans. White Peach is the strongest of the three and the one we would order again without hesitation; Apricot Edition is close behind and a little more tart; Spring Edition Cherry Sakura is the most delicate, bought mostly by people who already know they like it. None of them substitutes for Original if the classic flavour is what you want.
Which Red Bull editions are seasonal or limited?
The Summer Edition, Spring Edition Cherry Sakura and most of the colour editions are produced in runs rather than kept permanently. Summer Edition is the clearest case: it arrives as a pair, Summer Edition and Summer Edition Sugarfree, and when the run is sold it is gone until the next one, usually with a different flavour. The Spring Edition Cherry Sakura follows the same pattern. Among the colour editions, some stay in rotation for years and others disappear quietly. If a seasonal edition becomes the can you reach for, buy it by the tray while it is in stock, because we cannot restock a run that has ended. Original, Original Sugarfree, Original Zero Sugar and Blue Edition are the lines you can plan a standing order around.
Does Red Bull have a sugar-free edition?
Yes, three ways. Original Sugarfree and Original Zero Sugar are the permanent sugar-free cans, and the Summer Edition has appeared as a Sugarfree version alongside the standard one. Outside those, the fruit and colour editions are sugar-sweetened unless the can says otherwise, so read the label. If zero sugar matters more than the Red Bull flavour specifically, the wider energy drink range has more options, and our piece on the zero-sugar trend covers how the category has shifted. Our ranking, from first to last
- Blue Edition — best-selling line in our order data, stocked all year, and the easiest can to recommend to a newcomer.
- Original Zero Sugar — the classic flavour without the sugar, and the best default for daily drinking.
- Original — still the reference point everything else is judged against.
- Original Sugarfree — drier than Zero Sugar, and ranked here only because the newer can suits more palates.
- The Red Edition Watermelon — the pick of the fruit editions.
- Tropical Edition — the juiciest can and the best escape from the classic taste.
- White Peach — the strongest of the stone-fruit cans.
- Summer Edition and Summer Edition Sugarfree — worth buying in quantity while the run lasts, which is also why they cannot rank higher.
- Purple, Sea Blue, Pink and Lilac Editions — good in a mixed tray, rarely anyone's standing order.
- Apricot Edition, Green Edition Dragon Fruit, Spring Edition Cherry Sakura, White Edition — worth trying, but reordered least often.

Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in a Red Bull Edition?
Every Red Bull edition we stock contains 80 mg of caffeine per 250 ml can, the same as Red Bull Original. The flavoured editions do not carry more or less caffeine than the classic can. They also contain 1000 mg of taurine per can. Caffeine content does not vary between the sugar-sweetened and sugar-free versions.
Which Red Bull Edition is the best-selling one?
Blue Edition. In our own order data over the past twelve months, Red Bull Blue Edition is the single best-selling line in the range, across both consumer and wholesale orders. It is the blueberry-leaning edition, sweeter and rounder than Red Bull Original, which makes it the usual starting point for people who do not like the classic flavour.
Are the Red Bull Editions sugar-free?
Most are not. Original Sugarfree and Original Zero Sugar are the permanent sugar-free cans, and the Summer Edition has been released in a Sugarfree version. The fruit and colour editions contain sugar unless the can is explicitly labelled Sugarfree, so check the label before ordering a tray if sugar content matters to you.
Is Red Bull vegan?
Yes. Red Bull is vegan, including the taurine, which is produced synthetically rather than from animal sources. All variants are carbonated and sold in 250 ml cans in our range. If you need vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free in one drink, the BCAA-based energy drinks in our range are worth comparing as well.
Why does Red Bull carry a high caffeine warning?
Under EU Regulation 1169/2011, any drink with more than 150 mg of caffeine per litre must state "High caffeine content. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breast-feeding women". Red Bull sits above that threshold, as do most energy drinks in our range. The warning reflects caffeine concentration per litre, not the dose in a single 250 ml can.
Which Red Bull Editions are limited or seasonal?
The Summer Edition, Summer Edition Sugarfree and Spring Edition Cherry Sakura are produced in seasonal runs, and several of the colour editions rotate in and out. Original, Original Sugarfree, Original Zero Sugar and Blue Edition are the year-round lines. If a seasonal edition becomes your regular, buy it by the tray while the run is in stock.
