How to Buy Nordic Drinks in Bulk From Europe — A Guide for US and International Buyers

Nordic functional drinks — NOCCO, Vitamin Well, Barebells — have built enormous followings in Europe, and international interest is growing fast. If you're based in the US, Canada, Australia, or elsewhere and want to bring these products to your market, here's what you need to know.

Why Nordic Drinks Are Worth Importing

Functional beverages are the fastest-growing segment in the global drinks market. Nordic brands like NOCCO have developed loyal fan bases built on zero-sugar, high-performance formulas that outperform traditional energy drinks on ingredients. They're well ahead of most US-available alternatives in terms of functional content.

The Practical Import Checklist

1. Check Regulatory Compliance in Your Market

This is the most important step. Each country has its own food safety authority and caffeine regulations:

  • USA (FDA): NOCCO's caffeine level (180mg/can) is within permitted limits for caffeinated beverages. However, the product would need FDA-compliant labelling (Supplement Facts or Nutrition Facts panel, US-format ingredients declaration).
  • Australia/New Zealand: FSANZ regulates caffeine at 320mg/L. NOCCO at ~545mg/L exceeds this limit and cannot be sold as a general food in AU/NZ. Barebells and Vitamin Well face fewer restrictions.
  • Canada: Health Canada regulates energy drinks. Caffeine limits apply — check current CFIA guidelines before importing.
  • UK: Post-Brexit, UK food standards (FSA) apply. EU certifications are broadly recognised but UK-specific labelling is required.

2. Arrange Freight and Customs

For international shipments outside the EU, FOB or CIF terms are most common. You'll need:

  • A licensed customs broker in your country
  • Commercial invoice and packing list from us
  • Certificate of Origin (Sweden)
  • Product specifications and safety data sheets

3. Plan for Labelling

European packaging is designed for EU regulations. Most international markets require local-language labels and country-specific nutrition formats. This usually means applying sticker labels or sleeve labels over existing packaging.

4. Minimum Order Quantities

For international shipments, pallet-level ordering makes the most sense economically. Container quantities (20ft or 40ft) provide the best per-unit cost at long distances.
